Objectives:
- Students will use prior knowledge of Math concepts.
- Students will compose lyrics using math terms.
- Students will use a video camera.
- Students will use an audio program to record and edit audio to the video.
- Students will use Windows Movie Maker to put their project together.
Time Required: Four 45 minute classes (Long term project will require two weeks of work on their own.)
21st Century Tools (Technology Tools):
- Computer
- Video Camera
- Audacity or audio editing software
- Windows Movie Maker or video edting software
Procedure:
<<Day 1>>
1. Start class by showing "What you know about Math" from http://youtube.com .
2. Divide students into groups. Groups will have time to brain storm about math topics to use in their videos.
3. Take the students to the computer lab to show them how to use Windows Movie Maker and Audacity.
<<Day 2>>
4. In the computer lab, have the students work with Movie maker and Audacity.
<<Day 3 after one week>>
5. In the computer lab, give students time to work on their video song/rap. Students will probably need to retake video or re-record audio.
<<Day 4>>
6. In the computer lab, students will complete the technology part of their project.
Differentiated Instruction:
More advanced students can peer tutor classmates.
21st Century Assessment/Evaluation:
Successful completion of video, audio and movie. A rubric will be developed.
