PCHS received a donation of 11 3-year old Dell computers from Blue Cross/Blue
Shield.  These computers will be placed in the computer lab to update the lab
with 25 Windows XP machines.  The Windows 2000 machines will be used to
update the Pentium III computers still located in the building. Thank you
Blue Cross/Blue Shield contact person Fred Earley. (October 2007)
 
     The Fred Earley and Donna Smith family donated 25 optical mice to the
computer lab.  This will keep the mice rolling and provide more work area for
the students. Thank you! (October 2007)

 

PCHS and PCES participated in the E-cycling program on September 29th.  We
recycled 6,222 lbs of old technology. Thanks to the 5th and 6th period gym
classes at PCHS and Mrs. Powderly and Mr. Roedersheimer for the use of their
trucks. (September 2007)

 

Projectors for the SMART boards were mounted in September. We are waiting for
eletric relocation. Wireless connections will be installed on the boards and
they will be mounted to the wall. (September 2007)

 

Regular Maintenance is taking place during August at PCHS.
We have received 4 SMART Boards to be used in Mr. Cooper's Science Room, Mr.
Bell's Religion Classes, Ms. Heimer's Religion Classes and Mrs. Wildt's
English Classes.

 

During July PCHS experienced some e-mail/web site problems with
Suddenlink/Charter.  By August 1st all is working as normal.  We are sorry
for the inconvenience.

 

PCHS has been experiencing some ISP problems with Suddenlink on 5/17 & 5/18.
The problem is being resolved by Suddenlink and should be fixed by noon on
Monday, May 21st.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

 

PCHS is updating the homework page again after the sudden illness of
Mr. Woody, who is responsible for the web site.  We are sorry for the
inconvenience.

 

PCHS picked up 20 17" flat screen monitors.  These will be used to replace
some that have recently gone bad and the rest will be kept on hand for new
workstations and monitors that go bad in the future. (February 2007)

 

PCHS received 25 donated Pent 4 CPU desktops from DuPont.  Ten of these
machines will be added to the lab to enable larger classes to use the lab
with individual stations.  We are waiting on electrical work to be complete
to make this possible.  The rest of the machines will be used throughout the
building where needed.  Thank you Dupont and Mr. Migliore! (November 2006)

 

PCHS has received two laptops for the Robotics Club.  These to laptops will
be used in the computer lab when they are not in use for Robotics or other
classes.  Thank you so much for your generosity, Mr. Petrole! (October 2006)

 

The TeachCam has arrived!  A training session was held Monday, Oct. 2nd for
science and art teachers and other who were interested.  Applications with
this flexible camera are microscopes, art techniques, yearbook & journalism
layout and article discussion, and possible student projects similar to Mr.
Bell's morning prayer videos.  (October 2006)

 

The worn out lab chairs have been replaced with straight back chairs that
allow more movement by the teachers through out the rows.  This will help
the students sit more ergonomically at the computers. (September 2006)

 

Technology ordered, but not received as of this writing are a Teachcam to be
used mainly with Biology, however, art students will use it also and memory
for our older machines.

 

We replaced two pens for our two White Boards. This must mean we are using
them.(August 2006)

 

Mr. Bell's Public Relations classes will be using two new computers with
Microsoft Publisher.  These machines and software were acquired through a
Diocese Grant. (Summer 2006)

 

Mr. Goe will be using a SMART Board this year with his classes that was
acquired through a Diocese Grant. (Summer 2006)

 

A laser network printer has been installed for teacher use only in Mr. Goe's
room. (Summer 2006)

 

The library laser is now available from all student machines for printing.

PCHS received 6 donated Pent III machines.  These will be reformated for
PCHS and distributed throughout the building. This is a welcomed donation. 
Please remember to donate if your machines are Pent III or above.  Thank

The SCRIP program was installed on a machine and ready for use.  Please read
your newsletter for information regarding the SCRIP program. (May 2006)

 

An Internet blocking proxy server was set up. This blocks some of the sites
the students should not be access on school time.  I am adding to this list
a needed. (April 2006)

 

Sixteen new computers were installed in the computer lab. A scanner was
installed for the use of the lab and multimedia students. (January 2006)

 

A mono laser printer was installed for the computer lab use.  We are still
hoping to secure a color laser printer for the lab. (March 2006)

 

Mr. Goe is using a new TI-84 graphing calculator view screen in his classes.

Two new computers were set up for the Yearbook "Corner" of the library over
